Description of Property:
This land is within two miles of the community of Hebo and is bounded on all sides by U.S. Forest Service land, the Suislaw National Forest. The easement property falls within the temperate rain forest bioregion along the North Oregon coast. It is bisected by Cedar Creek. The property was logged extensively around the turn of the century and a mill was located on the site. The land is now used primarily for this resident and associated out buildings.
Natural Resource Features:
The land contains forest, meadow, and riparian and stream habitat. The original forest has been mostly removed and the site has regrown with some diversity and over time will continue to develop features of an older forest system. The meadow, although a habitat that would not normally occur in this ecological setting, has historically and does currently provide habitat for large and small wildlife.
